So Which Size Should I Choose?
- The type of debris you are disposing of is the first thing to consider
- Next, estimate the total volume of waste to get a rough idea for the size of your dumpster
- If your waste is considered heavy debris i.e. concrete, brick, block, asphalt, or dirt, then you must use the 10 yard size container
- Bear in mind the area where you want your dumpster delivered, ensure that there is room for the size you choose
Each size has a particular application, which is why we provide at least four different sizes for customers to choose from. The smaller dumpsters, such as the 10 and 15 yarders, are built for hauling between 1 and 2 tons of debris. Common applications include general household cleaning, office cleanouts, small landscaping projects, and other similar work. Many residential customers choose these sizes because they can easily fit inside narrow driveways, which is always something to consider when choosing a dumpster. The larger sizes definitely take up more space, which for some means having to park their car on the street for a while.
The next size up from these dumpsters is the 20 yarder. This is an all-around safe choice for customers who are not sure how much debris they will need to clear. It’s big enough to hold 3 tons of waste which is about average for most customers. It’s also not intimidatingly large as the dumpster itself is only 4 feet tall. It is however a lot longer at 22 feet. For the sake of comparison, the 10 yard dumpster is a full 12 feet shorter. This larger size is useful for customers who have some light construction work being done on their property. This includes adding an addition to an existing structure or reroofing a building.
The two largest sizes, the 30 and 40 yarders, work for a variety of different projects that require disposing of a large amount of waste. Typical uses include renovations, home remodeling, building construction, and commercial cleanouts. Renovations especially benefit from these open-top dumpsters as a whole lot of waste is generated from gutting older buildings. Fortunately, we accept everything that you might find over the course of renovating a home or other building. This includes drywall, wiring, piping, wood refuse, metals, and other building materials. It should be noted that concrete, brick, block, asphalt, and dirt can only be placed in a separate 10 yard dumpster. These materials are heavier and are often processed separate from construction debris. Therefore you do not want to mix these materials in with your other debris.
